FilmSA Contest

FilmSA Contest

#FilmSA Contest is put on by the San Antonio Film Commission to enhance the local filmmaking community and provide an opportunity for filmmakers to produce and showcase new works.

In collaboration with the City of San Antonio’s World Heritage Office, every other year #FilmSA invites both student and non-student filmmakers to showcase San Antonio as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 #FilmSA Contest has been cancelled. You can enjoy the works by previous #FilmSA contest winners, and be informed about future contest opportunities by visiting the FilmSA website.

Maverick Plaza

The City of San Antonio, in partnership with Grupo La Gloria, will enhance this cultural arts destination in the historic heart of downtown along the San Antonio River. The New culinary concept in La Villita will curate the food history of San Antonio by representing important cultures that influenced the gastronomy we enjoy today: Indigenous, Spanish, Mexican and German.
The renovated Maverick Plaza at La Villita will be activated with three new restaurants and an outdoor education cooking kitchen to focus on the preservation of cooking techniques, food and recipes handed down from generation to generation.

Exchange Program

The City of San Antonio enjoys active and productive relationships with fourteen sister and friendship cities worldwide. In 2019, San Antonio was recognized with an award for “Best Overall Sister Cities Program” at the Sister Cities International Annual Conference in Houston. Culinary exchanges are an important addition to the many cultural activities that San Antonio shares with its partner cities. We actively seek opportunities to showcase San Antonio cuisine around the world but also welcome other cities to share their gastronomy with our residents.
